Juan Carlos Rodriguez, age 27, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Monday, June 17, by Darien Police for the incident that occurred in April on a school bus.

According to Sgt. Mauricio Vigil of the Darien Police, on Thursday, April 4, the Trumbull Police Department alerted the department about an incident that occurred on a school bus while it was in Darien transporting students from a private special education school in Stamford to Trumbull.

The investigation revealed that on Monday, April 1, a bus aide, identified as Rodriguez, allegedly bit a 9-year-old boy diagnosed with autism during the bus ride, Vigil said.

Vigil said the boy's mother reported the incident to police after noticing a bite mark on his back.

Vigil said video footage from inside the bus confirmed the incident, showing Rodriguez making contact with the boy, who immediately cried out in pain.

Further allegations include Rodriguez hitting the boy with his phone, wiping mucus on him, and licking his face over the past three weeks.

Rodriguez has since been terminated from his position.

A warrant was applied for and granted with a court-set $50,000 bond.

Rodriguez was released after posting the bond.
